Chad Ochocinco Released, Patriots Competitive at Wide Receiver
Professional pass-catcher and village idiot Chad Ochocinco is no longer playing football in New England.
Of course, it’s not as if he was ever really here to begin with. In his time as a Patriot, Ochocinco played 15 games and averaged only one catch and just over 18 yards per outing (with only one touchdown all year, to boot). After over 10 years, 10,000 yards, and 66 touchdowns in Cincinnati, his numbers were underwhelming to say the least.
So good riddance! The receiver formerly known as Chad Johnson had next to no redeeming qualities as a Patriot, and clearly was not up to the work load. And with names like Brandon Lloyd, Wes Welker, Deion Branch, and Jabar Gaffney in the mix at wide receiver, the competition will still produce a remarkable set of targets for the ever-impressive Tom Brady.
